IIT JEE 2008 Cutoffs

Introduction:

Indian Institute of Technology is a collective name for a group of colleges. There is no doubt on the fact that IITs are the most esteemed colleges in the country and they are also recognized abroad. IITs rank among the top 50 colleges in the world. All these facts are enough to give you the hint of the level of competition to get into IITs. The cutoffs largely depend upon the difficulty of the questions and the admission into IITs is governed by the overall and sectional cutoff factor.

However this year the level of questions was tougher and the cutoff is expected to drop a bit, so don’t expect any drastic fall. Given below is the cutoff of 2007 so that you can gauge your performance.

Above 400      Top 10

399-370        10-100

369-340        100-200

339-310        200-500

309-290        500-1000

289-270        1000-1500

269-250        1500-2000

249-230        2000-3000

229-210        3000-4000

209-190        4000-5000

189-185        5000-6000

This year around it is expected that the cut off will drop by around 30 marks. if you are scoring somewhere around 185-190, then consider yourself lucky and expect a call from the IITs.
