(Circular) Teacher Exchange Programme from India with Japan during 2017-18

1. Introduction

The Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU) has been organizing the international educational exchange programmes since 2002, in the United Nations University trust, to promote mutual understanding and international friendship in Asia-Pacific area, achieving fruitful results to establish a network among teachers in Korea, China, Thai and Japan. In 2016, the invitation programme for teachers from India has started within the framework of the "International Educational Exchange Programme" in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan, Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Centre for Environment Education (CEE). As the second time of the programme, 03 Primary and Secondary Education teacher, from the schools affiliated to CBSE, India along with other teachers will be invited to Japan for 8 days from 5 to 12 November 2017.

2. Objectives

1. To introduce the Japanese educational system, the current Japanese educational situation, and characteristic approach (collaboration with local communities, environment education, club activities etc.) of the school education to in-service teachers in elementary and secondary schools;

2. To improve the quality of education in India and Japan by providing opportunities for exchanging their teaching experiences;
3. To promote understanding of Japanese culture and society;
4. To contribute to building and reinforcement of a network among teachers in India and Japan through visiting schools/institutions or an educational conference; and
5. To promote mutual understanding and friendship between India and Japan.
