(DST-INSPIRE INTERNSHIP CAMP FOR STUDENTS)
From 27th to 31st December 2010

Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology (DST) is implementing "Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)" programme, in order TO ATTRACT TALENTED STUDENTS TO SCIENCE CAREER. We at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, are happy to be associated with this Visionary Program of national importance by organising an INSPIRE Internship Camp, for the first time in Chennai.

The objectives of INSPIRE camp are to communicate to the young students of our country the excitements of creative pursuit of Science and attract talents to the study of science at an early stage and build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science and Technology system and R & D base in our country.

As per the regulation of the DST, students who got high marks in their X Board Examination [>90% in the case of Tamil Nadu Board/Matriculation and >93% in the case of CBSE] and pursuing science in Higher Secondary School i.e., 11th and 12th standards are eligible to participate in this program. The Mentors for INSPIRE internship will be various Academic Fellows, Bhatnagar Awardees and Scientists of National & International repute. The young students will be motivated and inspired through lectures related to scientific success and innovations across all science streams. For one such camp of 5 days duration, 100 students can be accommodated. If more students opt for this program, more number of such camps will be organized in the future.

The INSPIRE camp is scheduled for the period from 27th December to 31st December 2010. The organizers will meet the expenses of the INSPIRE internship camp including food & accommodation for all the 5 days. I request the Principals / Headmasters to circulate this information to the students pursuing science in Higher Secondary School i.e., 11th and 12th standards. The Principals / Headmasters may collect the list of students along with their contact addresses and phone numbers and send the same on or before 10th December 2010 to:
